The tram depot "Oktyabrskoye" began its construction in 1914. It was initially named "Pokrovsky Tram Park." There is a version that this depot was intended to be used for servicing metro trains. The beginning of one of the metro lines was planned and designed here, which was supposed to pass through Taganskaya and reach the business center of Moscow (it was envisioned that the underground branch would go near Krasny Holm). The track gauge was planned according to the Russian railway standard so that railway trains could reach the warehouse facilities underground and, after unloading, accept commercial and industrial waste and transport it to the area near Ugreskoye Monastery.
However, all the plans were disrupted by the First World War, and the construction was put on hold. Construction resumed after a 10-year hiatus in 1923. The grand opening of the new tram park took place on November 8, 1927, coinciding with the 10th anniversary of the October Revolution. Hence, the park was named "Oktyabrskiy" (meaning October).
